The “Good News” Letter
Sunday, 01/04/09
Hello Readers,
Another week has passed and the old year has resigned and the New Year has begun. What if we could start over this year and find peace and begin to live life abundantly free from our past? Most people would jump at the chance to do this. Where do I get this from? What do I have to do? How much will this cost me?
You cannot buy it. No one other than Jesus can offer salvation to us, because he is the only one who can, and it is his free gift to us. (John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.)
Why is Jesus the only one who can save us? When Adam and Eve sinned against God in the garden of Eden, they incurred the penalty of death for their sin. We are all Adam and Eve’s descendents so we have the penalty of death placed on us as well. Since Jesus was born of a virgin he did not have Adam and Eve’s sin placed upon him so he was not under sin’s penalty of death and while he lived, he did not sin.
Jesus laid down his life while on the cross to pay for our sin’s, no one or thing took the life of Jesus. Jesus choose to lay it down as part of God’s will. If we accept the fact that we are sinners and need to be saved and turn to Jesus for his gift of salvation and honestly repent of our sins, Jesus will save you. Jesus will hear your cry to him and accept you into the Kingdom of God and he will also give to you eternal life.
How can Jesus give us eternal life? God required death for the payment of our sin’s and he accepted Jesus death on the cross as payment in full. Jesus defeated death on the cross and is able to give to us eternal life when we come to him.
Jesus also will indwell you with the Holy Spirit who will help you in your journey through life and will open your eyes, mind and heart to the things of God.
Jesus rose again from the dead and is seated on God’s right hand and he intercedes on our behalf when we come to him openly and honestly asking for forgiveness. This is the gift of love that God has given to us. (1 John 4:10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.)
Is this offer not what we have been looking for and now found? Our only Hope, our Savior, our Intercessor and the one we call Lord!
